Armitage Arts Festival
Saturday, September 6, 2014 The Armitage Arts Festival is a multi-arts celebration that connects people of all ages, artists, and neighborhood organizations and businesses in Chicago’s Hermosa and Logan Square neighborhoods. This festival includes live music, literary performances, visual art, and other activities in venues along W. Armitage Avenue—at Mozart Park, Rosa’s Lounge, Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, and Weegee’s Lounge.

In early 2014 a small group of business owners and community organizers got together to discuss the possibility of an arts festival that happens in summer 2014. The initial group includes Tony Mangiullo, owner of Rosa's Lounge; Alex Huebner, owner of Weegee's Lounge; John Yost, Supervisor of Mozart Park; and Dan Godston, Director of the Borderbend Arts Collective.
This festival involves several stakeholder organizations that are helping to make this happen. The following businesses, government institutions, and nonprofit organizations are partnering to make this festival take place: Ascension Performing Arts, Bikes 4 Life, Borderbend Arts Collective, Build Chicago, Chicago Park District, Dill Pickle Food Co-Op, Elephant Rebellion, En Las Tablas Performing Arts, International Capoeira Angola Foundation, Logan Square Neighborhood Association, Next Objectivists, Opera-Matic, ROADIECAB, Rosa’s Lounge, Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, The Trust for Public Land (The 606), Voice of the City, and Weegee’s Lounge.
Festival Schedule
Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center (1-3 p.m.)

Armitage Ave. Chicago, IL 60639 $5 suggested donation, all ages The program at the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center includes a Capoeira demonstration presented by the International Capoeira Angola Foundation; a bike raffle from Bikes 4 People; performances by En Las Tablas Performing Arts, Elephant Rebellion, and Ascension Performing Arts; information tables with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association and the Dill Pickle Food Co-Op; and a parade from SRBCC to Mozart Park.

Mozart Park (3-6 p.m.)
2036 N. Avers Ave. Chicago, IL 60647 free and open to the public, all ages The program at Mozart Park includes a Taiko group performance, flag-making and flag corp/parade style movement workshop hosted by Opera-Matic, a rhythm stick-making workshop presented by The 606, a zine-making workshop and performances presented by The Borderbend Arts Collective, an arts program presented by Voice of the City, voter registration with LSNA, a drum circle, and a parade from Mozart Park to Weegee’s Lounge.
Weegee’s Lounge (6-8 p.m.)
3659 W. Armitage Ave. Chicago, IL 60647 21 and older The program at Weegee's Lounge includes an art exhibition, music provided by DJ Supreme Court, barbecue, and a parade from Weegee’s Lounge to Rosa’s Lounge.
Rosa's Lounge (8 p.m.-after midnight)
3420 W. Armitage Ave. Chicago, IL 60647 21 and over, admission The program at Rosa's Lounge includes performances by The Next Objectivists and other groups, live painting by Ben Lasko, and the Toronzo Cannon concert.
