Venues: SRBCC, Mozart Park, and Weegee's Lounge
in the Hermosa and Logan Square neighborhoods

free and open to the public

The Armitage Arts Festival is a multi-arts celebration that connects people of all ages, artists, and neighborhood organizations and businesses in Chicago’s Hermosa and Logan Square neighborhoods. This festival includes live music, literary performances, visual art, and other activities in venues along W. Armitage Avenue—at Mozart Park, Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, and Weegee’s Lounge.
Schedule:
  • Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center (4048 W. Armitage Ave., 1-3 p.m.): Bomba percussion and spoken word performances by teens, poetry performance by Janina Ciezadlo, live drawing by Spencer Hutchinson, and an information table hosted by the Logan Square Neighborhood Association. All ages.
  • Mozart Park (2036 N. Avers Ave., 3-6 p.m.): An arts workshop facilitated by The 606; a drum circle facilitated by John Yost; a performance of improvised music (Joe Vajarsky (tenor saxophone), Dan Godston (cornet), Albert Wildeman (upright bass), and Lou Ciccotelli (percussion)); and an information table hosted by the Mozart Park Advisory Council. All ages.
  • Weegee’s Lounge (3659 W. Armitage Ave., 6-8 p.m.): Performances by the Next Objectivists and BBF's Open Spirits (Kurt Iselt -- alto saxophone, George Belle -- flute, Bonbonfera Tim Keenan -- drums, and Dan McNaughton -- upright bass). 21 and older.

The 2015 Armitage Arts Festival is brought to you by a coalition of organizations and businesses that comprises a community-building initiative along W. Armitage Ave. The first public program presented by this coalition was the 2014 Armitage Arts Festival; other Armitage Arts events have been hosted by Rosa’s Lounge, SRBCC, Weegee’s Lounge, and Mozart Park.
